Special Gift

I am sharing a little quilt today.

It was made for a dear friend, Linda.  It is her special day soon, and I wanted to send something made just for her.

I let my imagination run wild and am very pleased with the outcome.

Shoes are a shared love, and this was a perfect way to show it.

Traupunto on the shoes, so that it sits out nicely from the whimsically
quilted background.

I had such fun with this.

The Neglected Blog!

I have neglected the blog for too long.

I have been doodling and quilting, although there never seems to be enough hours in the day for all the things I want to do!

Doodling on whiteboards, sketchbooks and pieces of paper, helps to feed my creativity.

There is a project with which I have been doodling towards.

A quilt in reds, browns, blues, in sashed four patches.

Almost there with the quilting.

It will be nice to see it off the frame, and the patterns reveal!

This has been fun!

Monogram Mini

Where has the year gone?

It is the middle of July already!!

Life just has a way of getting in, and the quilting sometimes has to wait.

I do have a mini quilt to share.

I wanted to try something a little different, and used black sharpee pen to mark the white backing fabric with the initials.

I then let loose with the free motion quilting.

I quilted pebbles, swirls, echoes and half feathers, all freehand on the longarm.

I bound in a lovely Riley Blake fabric, which has glitter in the print.  A lovely black on white fabric, which frames the mini quilt perfectly.

A quick finish, Yay!!

A special baby quilt

I have been quiet on the blog of late.

Life is busy around here as usual.

I do have a beautiful quilt to share.

A new baby always creates such excitement.  With gender unknown, the brief was to fit with the nursery.  I suggested a few things, and got started.

A simple pattern, by Suzie Fry.

These are lovely weight fabrics, with gorgeous prints of trams, bikes, birds, trees and boats.  Some of the motifs I have outlined with quilting, others I have quilted organic straight lines through the block.

The sashing needed a more over all treatment, so I quilted straight lines, a little closer together to gain the texture required.  This really frames the fabrics and lets them shine.

Binding was a black with a hexagon tone on tone pattern.  It has a bit of a shine, and finishes the quilt beautifully.

The backing was a paisley print which has been in the stash for a while.  That perfect piece, picked up, and waiting for this quilt.  It hides the quilting from the front, and also will not pick up as much dirt, when used on the floor as a play mat.

I might have to make another quilt out of Ink and Spindle fabrics, and keep it for myself!
